Vamana (Therapeuti Emesis)

Vamana karma is known as therapeutic emesis. It is one of the five panchakarma procedures in which doshas are eliminated through the upper route. This is done in both preventive and therapeutic purposes. Medicines are given orally to induce vomiting early in the morning.

Virechana (therapeutic purgation)

Virechana, known as therapeutic purgation, is one of the five panchakarma procedures. In this vitiated doshas and toxins are eliminated through anal route. Here, the person is made to undergo controlled purgation. This procedure pacifies pitha by clearing toxins from the body.

Vasthi (medicated enema)

Vasthi is the main treatment among panchakarma. It is a special treatment in Ayurveda considered among panchakarma. It is a method of administering medicated decoctions, oils, milk or ghee through anal route/urinary/vaginal route. It is considered as best in treating vatha rogas.

1. Kashaya vasthi
In this medicated decoction is introduced into the body through anal route.

2. Anuvasana vasthi
In this medicated oil is introduced into the body through anal route.

3. Utharavasthi
The vasthi administered through the urinary or vaginal route is known as utharavasthi.

Nasyam (Nasal Medication)

Nasyam is the therapeutic administration of medicated oil/swarasa/powder through the nostrils. The forehead, face, neck and shoulders are massaged and drops of herbal oil is administered through the nostrils.
